Mysore pak

Sensational mysorepak in MW ! MW Mysorepak - Why add more ghee at all ???
Fresh besan gives the best resuts.
Please remember, a trial run is best given to assess your MW timings.
Besan - 1 cup
Ghee ( melted) - ¾ cup 
Sugar - 2 cups
Water - ½ cup
This should be made in a big MW vessel, to prevent overflowing.
Mix besan & melted ghee well & keep ready.
Mix sugar & water in tme MW bowl.
MW hi for 2 mtes & remove.
Mix thoroughly & MW hi for 2 more mts.
Stir to make sure the sugar has dissolved thoroughly & completely.
If not, MW for a few more secs.
Remove & add besan-ghee mixture.
Put back on microwave.
MW hi for 2 mts, remove & stir.
Put back & repeat once again.
Usually it takes 4-5 mts & varies with the oven.
As soon as a honey comb texture is reached, remove.
Immediately pour over a greased plate, level by shaking the plate & sprinkle sugar on top.
Cool & cut.

Friends, this is the first of a few Diwali sweets, I plan to post. Use only a 2 or 3 litre pressure cooker. Follow the instructions verbatim. I may not be inclined to reply all the doubts you get because, I feel,I have given the recipe very clearly. For badham powder, one can blanche the almonds, Wipe them dry with a tissue & spread on a MW plate.
MW hi for 2 mts.
Cool & powder, using the mixi. Grind for short spells (pulsate) in order not to release the oil & make it sticky.

OPOS Badham Burfi:
Almond powder - 1 cup heaped
Milk - 3/4 cup
Water - 1/4 cup
Powdered Sugar - 1 1/2 cups
Ghee - 1/2 cup (melted)
Saffron
Color (optional)
Whisk all the ingredients together making sure there are no lumps. 
Pressure cook in a 3 ltr pressure pan on medium low for 20 mins (you cannot miss that pleasant aroma!). 
You can cook for 10 more mins on low heat with a tava underneath.
Turn the stove off and let this rest for half an hour before you open the lid.
Open, mix well and transfer to a greased plate. 
Wait for it to cool down completely before slicing.

Recipe - mix with a whisk 1/2 cup well roasted rava, 1/2 cup very sour curds, 1 cup water, salt and hing, without lumps. In a 2 lt PC, heat 3 tsp oil and temper mustard seeds, urad dhal and broken curd chillies with curry leaves, saute well. Now add the nixture in one stroke, whisking very well - important. Once the mixture starts boiling, cover, keep the weight and switch off. Open only after 20 mins. Tamarind water may be substituted instead of curds and green chillies instead of curd chillies

Beetroot halwa

Mom's juicy OPOS Beetroot Halwa!
4tsp ghee, 2 grated beetroots, 1C sugar, raisins, almonds, cardamom powder, a pinch salt. 3 whistles on medium.

moongdaal halwa

Moong dal halwa.. soak 1/2 cup or more yellow moong dal in night next day drain the water n grind coarsely with very little water ,.Heat 6 tbsp ghee n put the moong dal n brown it in sim gas it will take 20 min to brown it stir continously,n put 6 tbsp sugar or more to your taste 1 tsp cardamom pwd 2 tbsp saffron milk n 1 1/2 cup warm milk stir nicely till moisture has been absorbed n cook nicely in sim gas till ghee floats,garnish almond pista n saffron very yum. .....................


Mango kesari

1c sugar
3tsp ghee
1c water
1.5c sweet mango pulp
1/4 tsp crushed cardamom
pressure cook for 1 whistle 15min at medium heat600w.
Release steam manually

Mix in half cup double roasted ravva.Close cooker for 20min to cook in residual heat. No heating.

Besan laddoo

1 cup besan( sieved )
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup ghee/oil
A pinch saffron.
Mix everything, pour in cooker.
Cook on slow for 7 mins.
Open lid only after pressure subsides.
Shape in laddoos.
Stud with raisins and almonds.
Needless to say, taste max, effort minimum

A small leap before a big jump!!

Moving from a talent hub to shopping is hub is such a change. Every day I'm learning, endless learning. In a good way.But faith on our acts always leave us with peace and harmony!!


In Cambridge it is only cyclists whom you should be watching  carefully but in MK on 60mi road, people cross it with pets!!In small streets, even cats don't bother to look out for the approaching traffic. You should wait and see!Grrr!!! 

Group chatting: sometimes it is head nod, other times just stare and but during nice times, chatter!!! This is what I observed and trying to learn.But it is hard for a chatty person like me.

When people have either experience with situation or exposure to knowledge can only understand certain things. Today it was nice to talk with group of moms at one of our kids activities. The cognizance of knowledge always gives enlightenment while the ignorance victimize you for arrogance! So end of it either it is irritation or exhilaration!
